The whole tennis community feels the rise of the very talented Aussie Alex De Minaur, who started the year with a few monstrous wins that got him into the top 10 rankings. He enters the Australian Open as a strong contender and one of the players to surely go deep.
The Australian had an exemplary run at the United Cup where he had back-to-back wins against top-ranked players, including World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
However, the monumental win does not affect the Aussie, who continues his journey to the top of the summit. He won his first match at the Australian Open against Milos Raonic.
Agreeing to be playing well, the Australian said that he would only work harder and let his tennis do the talking.
It’s no secret I’ve started the year pretty well. Now it’s about keeping my head down and trying to do the same thing. For me nothing changes. I’ll do my best to let the tennis do the talking & keep working out. One down. On to the next.De Minaur said
He won his first round against the Canadian in a thriller of a match. The match started as a back-and-forth clash between each other, which turned unfortunate for the Canadian, who unfortunately had to give a walkthrough.
Alex De Minaur wishes his opponent a speedy recovery after his unfortunate withdrawal from the first-round
During the first-round match between Alex De Minaur and Milos Raonic, the Canadian had to withdraw from the game due to an injury scare which saw De Minaur to the second round.
The Aussie who was equally sorry for his opponent showed compassion and wished him a speedy recovery during the post-match interview.
Raonic had a strong serve that put the Aussie on the backfoot for the greater part of the match, but luckily, the 24-year-old kept his calm and focused on the remaining part of the match, eventually winning it.
Unfortunately for Raonic, he was just fresh off a two-year setback from his last injury and faced a scare. There is no specific update from the Canadian who had to quit the match.
Coming off great wins, the Australian looks to head into the second round and will take on the Italian Matteo Arnaldi. Looking to one-up his previous best, which was the fourth round of the tournament back in 2022 and 2023, De Minaur will make it a tournament to remember.
