In 2016, 2021, and 2023, the talk was all about Novak Djokovic winning all four slams in one calendar year. In 2016, he won the Australian Open and the French Open; however, he failed to win Wimbledon, which halted his Calendar-Slam dream. In 2021, he took it to another level by winning in Melbourne, then in Paris, and then also in London. He also made it to the final of the US Open, where he fell short. So close and yet so far.

Well, 2023 presents yet another opportunity for the Serb to complete the all-historic Calendar Slam. He once again made the perfect start by winning the Australian Open and French Open. The 36-year-old Serb looks fitter than ever. When asked about another chance to go for the Calendar Slam, he said, “I’d like to get another chance in New York.

Of course, I have to win Wimbledon, which is a whole different mountain to climb. The fact that I won the last four Wimbledons gives me a lot of confidence and I look forward to that. I really do. I love playing there, that’s the dream tournament, always has been for me. If that happens, I’d love to get a chance to go for another chance at the history in New York,” he added.

Continuing his train of thoughts, he further added, “I missed the history couple [of] years ago in the last match, with [Daniil] Medvedev. But I felt the love from New Yorkers, from all the people who were there. I was actually blown away with emotions of what they’ve brought to me on that day, on the court. So I can’t wait to go back and play in New York.”

He certainly has agreed that the challenge will be very much there when it comes to winning all four Slams. However, he believes he can do it even at this age. He is determined to go back to New York and change the result this time around. However, before that, he will have to win Wimbledon. Can he make history?

There is something about Novak Djokovic that brings out the best in him when it comes to Grand Slams. He may not be playing the best tennis leading into a slam. He will be losing best of three sets contests. However, as soon as he reaches the best of five sets of competition, a different beast turns up. It was nothing different this time around. After winning the Australian Open, Djokovic struggled on the tour.

Not making many finals and not making it to any of the clay semi-finals was very unlike him. For that reason, many didn’t even give him the “favorite” tag before the French Open. However, he once again proved many wrongs as he brought his best tennis to the big Paris event. Didn’t show any signs of being out of form. He also ended up defeating world no. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in his title run. Djokovic simply knows how to bring his best tennis out when it matters most.
