The growing bromance between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios continues to remain a topic of discussion of growing interest. The two mend their ways after the Aussie mercurial stood for Nole during the controversy of the 2022 Australian Open. Following the public support he received from Kyrgios, Djokovic and his family thanked the former World No. 13 and since then the two have become good friends.

Their bromance officially began at the 2022 Wimbledon where they contested the men’s singles finals with Nole coming out on top after four close sets. Both of them, especially Djokovic, admitted during his on-court interview that he never thought that he would speak good about the Aussie. While Kyrgios has remained absent from the ongoing 2024 Australian Open as a player, he has donned the hat of a commentator and the two have exchanged quite good comments about each other.

The recent incident came to light after Nole’s third-round victory over Tomas Etcheverry. The Argentine was humbled in straight sets by the defending champion who was competing in his 100th match at the Major. Following the win, in a dialogue with Barbara Schett, Djokovic expressed his wish to have the Australian’s massive serve while speaking highly of him.

Was it Kyrgios? NK rising baby. That's nice, it is great to have him around. Obviously, he is one of the most popular tennis players, both men and women Tour, no doubt, in the last 5-10 years. What he brings to the game, to the sport, brings a lot of new fans and he is exciting to watch to and to talk to as well. Great guy. We had a fun conversation for his podcast the other night here at the Rod Laver Arena. I don't know if he enjoys these kind of 4-hour matches but I wish I had his serve in some moments tonight, it will help.
said Djokovic.

In a previous match, Djokovic told Kyrgios to return quickly so they could become doubles partners. Kyrgios gave an immediate approval with a unique WWE remark on the subject.

Tricky test awaits Novak Djokovic in the fourth round

With the win over Tomas Etcheverry, the 10-time Australian Open winner will now take on French veteran Adrian Mannarino. The 20th-seeded Frenchman dispatched Ben Shelton in an epic 5-setter in the third round. As a result, it was his third consecutive 5-set win at this year’s Australian Open, proving his mettle to fight to the very end.

Nole is yet to be tested to the fifth set so far this Australian Open. He did come out on top in the fourth set during his round one and two matches before sending his fan Etcheverry packing in straight sets.

It will be the fifth match between Mannarino and Djokovic with the Serb leading 4-0 in their head-to-head. Their only hard-court match saw Mannarino win the first set before Djokovic came back to wrap up the win. But that was back in 2018 and now with the 20th seed high on confidence owing to the manner of his wins, he will surely pose a challenge to Nole.
