Rafael Nadal’s baby son adorably holding a small racquet has made tennis fans go wild about the future tennis star. Many are eyeing a future match between Rafael Nadal Jr. and Novak Djokovic’s son, Stefan.
Only hours ago, Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz competed in a thrilling exhibition – the Netflix Slam at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas. After a close contest battle, Alcaraz edged past the 37-year-old legend in the 10-point deciding tiebreak to win 3-6, 6-4, 14-12.
However, it was Nadal’s baby son on his wife Maria’s lap who stole the spotlight during the game. As he played with a miniature tennis racket and ball in the stands all eyes were on him. It is also proof of how much the toddler is following in his father’s footsteps owing to his great interest in tennis.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), fans went wild with the adorable picture of Nadal’s son, posted by Netflix. The post was captioned beautifully with,
“ok but can we talk about Baby Rafa’s baby racquet?!!?”
Tennis Letter also posted the picture with a caption that got fans talking about a Rafael Nadal Jr son vs. Stefan Djokovic match in the future.
“Rafa Nadal Jr. already plotting for when he’s 18 going up against a 40-year-old Carlitos,” Tennis Letter wrote.
“Stefan Djokovic v Rafa jr we will be there,” a fan wrote.
Nadal and Alcaraz now head straight to Indian Wells for one of the biggest Masters events in the US. Perhaps, the duo would meet each other for another exciting game of tennis in the BNP Paribas Open.
Rafael Nadal addresses retirement speculation
Rafael Nadal has addressed the rumors about his retirement, stating that he would hang his racquet when he is ready and on his terms. The tennis legend, who has struggled with injuries in the past fifteen months has been in the news for a near retirement.
However, after a drilling contest between him and Alcaraz in Vegas, the Spanish star looks a perfect fit for more tournaments. His last tournament in Brisbane early this year, saw him sprain his muscle but he is ready to compete at the Indian Wells Tournament.
I am not saying goodbye because (yet), then I would say that I am not playing anymore. I would like to say goodbye well, being competitive and enjoying myself on the court. Whether that can be or not, time will tellhe told Europa Press
The last time Nadal played in Indian Wells he reached the championship but lost ultimately to Taylor Fritz in 2022. The three-time winner would be hoping to make a big statement to both his fans and critics at the BNP Paribas Open.
