After being nearly two years away from the US hard courts, tennis great Novak Djokovic blows a kiss to a spectator during a second-round match, eliciting a plethora of reactions online.
For the uninitiated, due to COVID vaccination restrictions, Djokovic was unable to compete in the 2022 US Open, but now that the restrictions have been relaxed, he is excited to return to US soil and bag his 24th Grand Slam title.
After losing to Carlos Alcarz in the Wimbledon finals, Djokovic is now competing in the Cincinnati Open. He is playing his first singles match in the US in two years. It was expected that his second-round encounter against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina would be difficult.
During the match, Djokovic can be seen blowing a kiss to a fan, and he later commented on the Tennis Tv Instagram page that the kiss was also for Hubert Hurkacz’s poster. As expected, fans online were quick to express their delight after watching the Serb’s on-court attitude, and numerous of them posted. Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

Will the Serb move to the next round?
Following Fokina’s retirement, Djokovic advanced to the next round. His third-round encounter is against Gael Monfils, a fan favorite. Djokovic and Monfils have been friends for a long time now. Monfils has had a difficult year, losing early and picking up injuries along the way. The last tournament he won was in 2022 in Adelaide, Australia. Monfils even said that he still believes he can win a Grand Slam title. Now that he is back on the Tour and is determined to win his first title of the year,
Given that Djovivck has a 100 percent winning record versus Monfils, it will be interesting to see what new techniques he applies. Djokovic, on the other hand, has been playing incredibly well throughout the session and has already won three trophies, including two Majors (the French Open and the Australian Open).
He already has a record of 27 Masters championships on hard courts, so it is likely that he will want to add another title to maintain his stats alongside Monfils. With that being said, it will be interesting to see him play this match and move up his ranking to where he belongs.
