The Australian Open has historically been the most successful Grand Slam in Novak Djokovic’s career. He made his debut in the tournament back in 2005, and since then, has played in every edition of the Australian Open, apart from 2022, when he was not allowed to enter Australia due to his unvaccinated status.
The Serb has taken part in the Grand Slam 18 times and has ten trophies to his name. Moreover, he has never lost a final in the Australian Open.
The Serb acknowledged in a recent interview that his confidence in playing in the Australian Open increases every time he plays at the Rod Laver Arena because of his success rate here. Moreover, he always relives his memories from the past, as he has so many sweet ones made over a span of 18 years in Australia.
I just love playing in the Australian Open and Rod Laver Arena – it's my favorite court. Hopefully, I can do as well as I did last year. Throughout my career, I've had a lot of success, and hopefully that can keep going.Novak Djokovic via Eurosport
Djokovic is the top seed in the 2024 Australian Open. He is the defending champion in the tournament, having beaten Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the 2023 AO to win the trophy last season. The Serb had a sensational season in 2023 overall. He won three Grand Slams and was the runner-up at Wimbledon. He ended 2023 as the year-end World No.1 with a respectable lead.
Novak Djokovic claims that he is aiming to win his record 25th Grand Slam
The Serb has already made it very clear that, despite being 36 years old, he has no intention of stopping anytime soon and will continue until his level drastically falls, which is far from the case right now. He made history in 2023 by winning his 23rd Grand Slam at the French Open to overtake Rafael Nadal in the overall tally of Grand Slams.
Nole then added to his record by winning the US Open. The 36-year-old now wants to keep doing that and win his 25th Grand Slam.
I'm still trying to push as long as I can, win Grand Slams, and be a contender for a top sport in the world. Trying to make more history of the sport – that's the drive, that's the motivation.
Djokovic said that he is still feeling pretty good in his body for his age, and he recently had a very successful season in 2023. Thus, he is going to continue to strive for success and see how far it gets him.
