Serbia is a nation that has always witnessed various wars throughout its history. Currently, the Balkan nation does not have even a 1 crore population. However, despite this, the small landlocked country has been able to produce two players that are one of the finest in their sports – if not the greatest — Novak Djokovic and Nikola Jokic.
If Djokovic created history by becoming the first man ever to capture 23 Grand Slam titles at the French Open last week, it was the turn of Jokic to show what Serbians are made of as he helped his team Denver Nuggets to clinch their first NBA finals trophy.
Both are labeled as the greatest player in their respective sport currently, and it’s not a coincidence that both are fondly nicknamed ‘Joker’!

Novak Djokovic congrats his fellow Serbian on the historic win
It was a night to remember for Denver Nuggets as they captured their maiden NBA finals, defeating Miami Heats 4-1 in the best-of-seven format. Leading from the front was Jokic, who not only took his team toward victory but was also declared the most valuable player.
After this performance, many have called Jokic the best basketball player at the moment. Even, Djokovic did not leave behind to congratulate his countrymate and praised Jokic through his Instagram stories.
Meanwhile, it was yet another godly performance from Djokovic as the 36-year-old swatted aside Casper Ruud en route to his 23rd Major. Many doubted that Serb’s chances of winning at Roland Garros this year are very low considering his patchy clay court form. However, Djokovic put that debate to rest emphatically by winning his third Grand Slam title on the hallowed clay courts of Roland Garros.
