Novak Djokovic has had a simply sensational season in 2023. He won three out of the four Grand Slam titles this year and was the runner-up in the one that he failed to win, i.e., the Wimbledon Open.

Despite that, the Serb has said that this is not the best year of his career as he has won 3 out of four Grand Slam titles in a year, a total of four times in his career, and on the previous occasions, he did so more dominantly. Djokovic has won three Grand Slam titles in 2011, 2015, 2021 and 2023.

One of the best years. I wouldn’t say the best but one of the best. I mean the fact that I've win three out of four slams and played the final of the fourth and still not the best year of my life, its quite nice to have that kind of a situation. But its definitely one of the best seasons

The World No. 1 further said,

I mean I had couple of years I think three times that I won three out of four slams like in 2011, 2015 and in those years, I won more matches, I mean I played more tournaments. And I was feeling very dominant on the tour. Its quite different circumstances this year comparing to all the other years because I played what like 10-11 tournaments this year

The Serb admitted that he played the least of anybody and just managed to peak at the right tournaments at the right times and that’s what matters in the end, at least to him. Because he has been very result-oriented from the very beginning of his career.

Novak Djokovic finishes 2023 as the year-end World No. 1

Djokovic needed just one win in the 2023 ATP Finals to become the year-end World No. 1 and he did that perfectly by defeating Holger Rune in his very first match. The Serb has the golden opportunity to end his already successful season on a positive note by winning the 2023 ATP Finals – the tournament that is deemed the most important tournament after the four Grand Slam events.

Djokovic has already been off to a great start in the ATP Finals as he beat Rune in his first match. He will now face Jannik Sinner in his second match of the tournament and if he wins that, his spot in the semifinals is almost confirmed.

The Serb has been placed in the Green Group alongside Rune, Sinner, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The top two players from each group at the end of the group stage qualify for the semifinals.
