The Serbian World No.2 Novak Djokovic gave a strong statement regarding how he felt while facing the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. After losing the thriller in the Wimbledon final: 6-1, 6-7(6), 1-6, 6-3, 4-6, Djokovic said in the post-match conference that Alcaraz is that kind of player whom he has never faced before and he is the combination of three worlds: Himself, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

As Djokovic said, “People have been talking about his game consisting of certain elements from Roger, Rafa, & myself. I’d agree with that. He’s basically got the best of all 3 worlds. I haven’t played a player like him ever.”

Alcaraz is now leading the head-to-head 2-1 against Novak Djokovic. This was a sweet revenge for the young Spaniard for the loss in the French Open semi-finals in which he was the heavy favorite, unlike today. Then he had to deal with cramps due to the high mental pressure of the big game but Alcaraz seemed to have learned from the mistakes of the past.

The Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz would have lost the world number 1 ranking as well if he had lost the match against Novak Djokovic today. But the 20-year-old did not let the mental pressure affect his game like in the French Open semi-finals less than a month ago. He showed the mentality of a true champion after losing the first set cheaply to the Serbian.

Alcaraz looked out of sorts in the initial hours of the match and the confident Serbian took advantage of everything to race back to a 5-0 lead in the first set. He was also leading the tie-breaker of the second set 3-0 before the Spanish tornado starts hitting bigger.

The tennis world is looking forward to seeing how Novak Djokovic will bounce back from this defeat. The younger set of players, led by Carlos Alcaraz is looking hungrier than ever, to finally dethrone him from immortality.
