Reigning US Open champion, Novak Djokovic clashed with Tallon Griekspoor in the third-round match at the ongoing Paris Masters event. The Serb, however, appeared to be slightly out of form. He was seen struggling to keep up with his opponent in the beginning of the match. Following the match, Djokovic revealed the reason for his dip in form.
Djokovic beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets to claim a ticket to the second round. In the follow-up round, Djokovic locked horns with Tallon Griekspoor. The Serb, however, lost the first set to his Dutch opponent, much to the surprise of his fans. The two clashed in an intense exchange across the net in the next set where Djokovic emerged as the winner by a narrow margin. Following a round of booing by the crowds, Djokovic proceeded to win the match with a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory.
In a press conference following the match, Djokovic revealed that spending more time on the toilet seat instead of on the court in the last three days was the reason behind his second-round struggles. “Well it’s hard to have a clear mind…just the energy levels were very low the last few days and I’m taking it day by day,” Djokovic told the media.
“Today is probably the worst day,” the Serb admitted as he hoped for better days ahead. “I’m just hoping…that the curve will start going in the right direction for me,” he jokingly added to his statement. Djokovic will now gear up to face the sixth seed and the defending champion Holger Rune in the quarter-finals.
Novak Djokovic’s ‘duotone outfit’ gets mixed response at the Paris Masters
World No.1 Novak Djokovic’s outfit recently came in the limelight at the ongoing Paris Masters. The Serb donned a two-toned red and light purple outfit for the match. He paired the look with bright red shoes. The outfit was designed by Lacoste, the official kit sponsor of Novak Djokovic. The brand designs a different outfit for all tournaments the player participates in.
The outfit was however met with criticism after several members of the NoleFam were left divided in their opinion. While some fans loved the outfit, others downright called it atrocious. Some even claimed that the duotone pair of sportswear was the Serb’s worst outfit ever.
