Novak Djokovic had some words for the ‘condtions’ talks in the ongoing US Open. This statement was following conspiracies of Taylor Fritz getting special treatment during the match schedule. Tennis audiences have been apprehensive about the US Open authorities for scheduling the matches so that they benefit the Americans. However, Djokovic put down these doubts by saying the conditions were extreme for his opponent as well.

“For both players, it is the same. That’s why we train,” said the Serb as he established that every player had to be ready to play in any conditions. He said the players had to be ready to deliver in any condition, though it was not easy to do so. The 23-time Grand Slam champion also said that everyone had to fight in whatever conditions they had been given. He humorously made his point by resorting to singing the song ‘You gotta fight for your right to party’ in the on-court interview.

The tournament organizers have always been pointed at when there come issues with scheduling. There have been cases where certain players do not get the court or the match time they requested. As the tournament reaches its final stages, the people have started blaming the authorities for being partial towards American players when it comes to scheduling. They have also been accused of scheduling matches in the mid day since the Americans are more used to the heat than the Europeans.

However, Djokovic’s statement was in such a way that it thwarted these beliefs. He made it clear that the conditions were harsh, not only for him, but also for the other players. This included the Americans. The Serbian also mentioned that the crowd tends to be more supportive of the home hero. He said that while this is not a wrong notion, he thrives on whatever energy the crowd emits, good or bad.

Djokovic defeated Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final match at Flushing Meadows. He defeated the home hero in straight sets, with a score of 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. This will be the 47th Grand Slam semi-final appearance by the Serb.

However, this is not just another Grand Slam semi-final for the 23-time Major champion. With this match, he becomes the first man to appear in 47 Grand Slam semi-finals. He previously held this record jointly with Roger Federer. They are closely followed by Rafael Nadal with 38 Grand Slam semi-finals.
