In a recent ATP Challenger match, Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal was up against Dennis Novak on court 9 of Challenger 125. Sumit Nagal is the alternate player who got a surprise entry into the tournament after the main player did not play. 

The Indian was up against the player who managed to qualify for the ATP challenge. However, surprisingly, Nagal beat Novak 6-2, 6-3 in two consecutive sets.

The results were released to the public, and the whole tennis world fell for the wordplay as the scorecard showed Nadal versus Novak. Fans mistook the name Nagal for none other than tennis great Rafael Nadal, eliciting a plethora of hilarious reactions online.

Sumit Nagal’s run in the ATP Challenger

The recent ATP Challenger 125 is underway, featuring many players. It is also known as Tali Open, where the Indian Sumit Nagal has shone through. Entering the tournament as an alternative player, the Indian took complete advantage of the situation and made the best of his opportunity. After an initial first-round victory against Dennis Novak, the Indian went on to win his subsequent rounds.

Nagal faced Jakub Mensik in his round 2 match and Emil Ruusuvuori in the quarterfinals to land himself in the semi-finals of the tournament. Emil was the No. 2 seed in the tournament but unfortunately lost to Nagal. 

After a tough set in which the Indian won, the second set was also going in the favor of the Indian, but Emil had given a walkthrough, which ensured Nagal’s ticket to the semifinals.

This is one of the luckiest moments for the Indian, who can shine through the ranks and make a name for himself in this tournament. He is currently in the semifinals of the tournament and has already placed a strong foot in the finals.
