Novak Djokovic knows how to manage his injuries pretty well. The fact that he won the 2023 Australian Open with a torn hamstring is a good enough example to substantiate the point.

Now that the first Grand Slam of the season is set to kick off once again in a week’s time, tennis legend John McEnroe, has said that the Serb might pull off the same achievement again, but this time too, he is not at his best physically.

McEnroe reminded fans about Novak’s wrist injury that he suffered in a training session ahead of his match against Jiri Lehecka in the United Cup. However, the 7-time Grand Slam winner emphasized that the Serb knows exactly what to do in situations like this. He has won the Australian Open 10 times and a wrist injury will not come in the middle of him winning his 11th title.

We don’t know whether Novak is 100 percent. Obviously, he’s been injured allegedly the last couple of years and won the event handily so...let’s just say he knows how to manage it so we’ll see. Obviously, he’s won it 10 times. Who would’ve thought that would’ve happened?
McEnroe said in an ESPN conference call on Monday (H/T: Forbes)

McEnroe reiterated that he doesn’t see the injury causing a lot of trouble for the Serb at the Australian Open, despite the concerning result of his recent match in the United Cup.

Mary Joe Fernandez agrees with John McEnroe’s Novak Djokovic take

Djokovic’s 43-match winning streak came to an end when he faced Alex de Minaur in the United Cup. It worried fans, as the wrist injury definitely affected the Serb’s performance.

Even ESPN analyst Mary Joe Fernandez agreed that the injury had an impact on his forehand and serve. However, he thinks that it will not be much of a problem at the Australian Open.

He knows how to deal with some injuries here and there but we’ll see. The next few days I think will be telling on how much he practices.

Moreover, one cannot take away credit from de Minaur, as his performance against the 24-time Grand Slam winner was top-notch. The Australian has impressed everyone with this recent feat.
