After a 2-year hiatus, Novak Djokovic has returned to the United States. His prior entry was denied due to his unvaccinated status following COVID-19 protocols. Despite his appeals, the Serbian tennis star was not granted any special permissions to participate in events in Miami or Indian Wells.

Djokovic is back for this year’s final Slam, the US Open, following the government’s decision to lift bans on unvaccinated foreign nationals starting from May 11th. His last appearance was in the 2021 finals against Daniil Medvedev. In a recent practice match, a long line formed outside the stadium as fans endured the scorching heat for a glimpse of the Serbian player in action.
