Serbian World No.2 Novak Djokovic is not having the best of times following the Wimbledon final defeat. Right after the heartbreak, he was fined by Wimbledon for racket abuse and antics earlier. Now by becoming the player to lose the most number of Grand Slam finals ever, he was nicknamed “LOAT – Loser of All Time” by a Montenegrin journalist Nebojsa Sofranac.

Djokovic’s father angrily hit out at the journalist right after. He has reportedly said without mentioning the Montenegrin journalist by name for his remarks against his son, “May God help that man. If he can even be helped, and if he really means everything he wrote“.

The journalist who is definitely not a fan of the Serbian star wrote on his Facebook post earlier, “What did you do to him, Carlitos? So many illegal crazy volleys, slices and bombs that should be banned. And to inflame so much anger among lumberjacks who don’t even know how to count games, but know enough to curse a 20 -year-old boy who amazed the world?

The 23 times Grand Slam champion has won each slam at least thrice. According to numbers though, US Open is his worst slam. He has lost 6 finals here while winning 3. The Flushing Meadows is where he also trails Rafael Nadal in Head to Head apart from the French Open, even though this is played on his favorite surface-hard courts.

Djokovic’s last triumph here was in 2018 where his biggest rival Nadal withdrew in the semi-finals against Del Potro to make things a bit easier for the Serbian. He has never beaten the King of Clay in the US Open since the 2012 finals. This year with Nadal’s presence mostly uncertain, Djokovic will try to cement his position on the Grand Slam winner’s list by clinching the fourth title here.

With former champions Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev having great records in the US, things are not going to be easy for the Serbian but he has proven everyone wrong multiple times, coming back from unusual scenarios. The tennis world is looking forward to seeing how the Serbian will cope with the unexpected loss in the Green Turf of London.
