Boris Becker is a former World No. 1 player. Boris Becke won the men’s singles Wimbledon Championships title at the age of 17, making him the youngest ever to do so. He coached Novak Djokovic three years ago, in 2013.
Boris Becker firmly believes in Noval Djokovic’s chances of winning the 2023 French Open. “Clay is not his best surface, but in the last couple of years, he was able to pull it back together at the French. As long as he’s healthy, and as long as he wants to play, he is always going to be one of the favorites to win a grand slam.”, said Becker.
Becker admits to watching Djokovic win his 7th Wimbledon title while being in prison. Becker said, “I was very emotional when he won. It was a great statement and he’s a friend so I was happy to see him win.”.Becker also talked about Djokovic not getting enough love and appreciation. He believes that Djokovic deserves to be cherished more by the fans both as a player and a person.
“He’s actually a very outgoing, very worldly man. Sometimes he comes across as a bit of a tennis machine. But when he’s not in his office, he is very charming. You can talk to him about business, politics, about music, and he’s a good guy,” said Becker. It is not only Boris Becker or the fans that are rooting for Djokovic. Even top players like Holger Rune who are competing in the tournament consider Djokovic as the favorite to win the Roland Garros.
Boris Becker expresses concern about Emma Raducanu’s tennis future
Emma Raducanu has had to undergo multiple surgeries to solve her recurring injury problems and is currently recovering. Her rehab progress seems great, as she has been sharing stories about it on social media to let her fans know. Boris Becker, however, has mentioned that he considers Raducanu’s to be “career-threatening”.
“The surgeries that she has had are, in my opinion, career-threatening. Having surgery on your playing wrist, and as a two-handed player, the other wrist – and then on your ankle – is tough to bear for a young woman,”, said Boris Becker in an interview with The Guardian.
Emma Raducanu has also been changing coaches a lot since winning the 2021 US Open. She’s had three different coaches and has also been facing injury problems. Becker was concerned about Emma Raducanu’s career because players often struggle to recover from such major surgeries. Emma Raducanu has time on her side as she is still very young, and fans hope to see her come back at her very best.
