The Serbian World No.2 Novak Djokovic was in full song during his first-round encounter against the unseeded Argentine Pedro Cachin in Wimbledon. In a match suspended in between due to a wet outfield, the Serbian won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(7-4). During the routine win of the Serbian, what stood out was the funny side of him grabbing a towel by himself to dry the court.
In the first set, the Serbian had to show his household skills where he was seen moving around the court with a towel and trying to get rid of the wetness on the court as soon as possible. The funny video where in he cleans the floor is already going around over the internet with a lot of funny comments and reactions.
Djokovic will now face the unseeded Australian Jordan Thompson in the second round, which is expected to be another cakewalk for the World Number two. His quest for an eighth Wimbledon title was even made smoother with the withdrawal of Nick Kyrgios, last year’s runner-up who was expected to meet the Serbian in the quarter-finals this year.
Stopping Novak Djokovic on the grass court will be too difficult
With Nick Kyrgios’ withdrawal, it is almost sure that Djokovic will get at least into the semi-finals so much ease this year in Wimbledon. Now his greatest test until the last four will be Russian seventh seed Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals. Then if it goes as projected, last year’s quarter-finalist Jannik Sinner will be waiting for Djokovic in the semi-finals.
Sinner was able to get a 2-0 lead in last year’s quarter-finals against the Serbian, but eventually, Djokovic turned the tables to win the thriller in 5 sets. He then went on to win the tournament, defeating Kyrgios in the finals.
Carlos Alcaraz is the potential finalist along with Djokovic this year. Even though Alcaraz won the Queen’s title last week, a final against the mighty Serbian in Wimbledon center court must be too demanding for the Spanish World No.1.
In case you missed it!
