Novak Djokovic is looking to get back in shape ahead of the American hardcourt season next month. The Serbian is currently training in Montenegro, as he hopes to return to the tour at the Cincinnati Masters. The world number two suffered a devastating loss in the finals of Wimbledon a couple of weeks ago.

The Serbian was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in five sets in the Wimbledon finals, as he was denied a fifth straight Championships title. Recently, during one of his training sessions in Montenegro, he was seen taking some time off to play football with young fans.

One of the fans took to social media to express their delight at the same. The 36-year-old has already withdrawn from the Canadian Open which takes place in early August, as he cited exhaustion as a key reason. “I was delighted when I saw him – I couldn’t believe that he came here! He took pictures with every1, played, and gave autographs,” one fan tweeted.

Just a week after his final loss against Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic was spotted spending time with his family in Croatia. The 36-year-old has had a busy schedule over the past couple of months, as he went on to win the French Open in June.

Novak Djokovic has targeted a return at the Cincinnati Masters next month. The former world number one missed the American hard court season last year, owing to the covid-19 vaccination protocols. However, he is cleared to compete at the 2023 US Open, as he looks to claim his fourth title at Flushing Meadows.

Perhaps his biggest challenge will be in the form of Carlos Alcaraz, who also happens to be the defending champion. The Spaniard defeated Casper Ruud in the finals last year to claim his maiden Grand Slam title. Novak Djokovic’s record at the US Open has not been the best over the past couple of years, given the disqualification in 2020, and a drubbing in the finals in 2021.
