Novak Djokovic is currently ranked World No. 7 and he can fall down further below in September if things continue the way they are. The ‘things’ in discussion over here are his decision to remain unvaccinated against the Covid-19 virus and the policy of the USA to not allow unvaccinated foreigners into the country.

The month of August will see non-stop hardcourt action on the courts of the USA and a couple of tournaments in Canada and Mexico. The 2022 US Open begins on 29th August and the Serb is likely to miss out on another Grand Slam this season due to his unvaccinated status along with many other important events that will affect his ranking further. While the 21-time major champion and World No. 1 for 373 weeks, the most by any man, Novak is not much concerned about his rank and has received support for his decision from the USA.

“They shouldn’t have any more restrictions than the general public”: Peter McCullough on Novak Djokovic’s situation

As Djokovic faces expulsion from the USA as he did in Australia, he has far more support from the Americans who have criticised their own government for its policy which sees non-vaccinated American nationals competing in the events in the USA but foreigners need to prove their vaccination.

“The COVID-19 vaccines, all of them, in the medical literature, there are over 200 papers, they all cause heart damage and that is the last thing that an athlete can possibly risk. Heart damage can lead to heart failure or tragically, sudden death. He has clearly made the right choice and the vaccine injuries extend beyond the heart. There can be damage to the skeletal muscle, the nerves, the brain, so much of what an elite tennis player is, is at risk when they take a COVID-19 vaccine.

“They shouldn’t have any more restrictions than the general public. There was a paper published from NCAA athletes on testing that was done on a routine basis. The athletes have a lower rate of COVID-19 than the general student population,” said American cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough speaking with Dave Martin on NTD News.

Djokovic made it clear that he won’t be taking the vaccine for the US Open later this year and had earlier spoken of not taking the vaccine at least until he is done with his professional career after having seen the case of his colleague Jeremy Chardy who had to end his season early without playing a single match due to the side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine in one of the rarest cases.
