Novak Djokovic defeated World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev to claim his fourth US Open singles title last week. With 3 of this year’s four Grand Slams under his belt, Djokovic has reached the Serbian camp for the 2023 Davis Cup ahead of the much-awaited Finals Group stage. However, according to recent reports, a key member of the Serb’s inner circle, longtime agent Eduardo Artaldi, has split with Novak.
Djokovic partnered with Itlay’s Eduardo Artaldi in 2008 after he won his very first Grand Slam at the Australian Open. He had signed a contract at Sergio Tacchini, an Italian clothing brand Artaldi was working at during that time. Artaldi later became a part of Novak’s full-time team. No one could have predicted the meteoric rise of the Serbian tennis player that followed. With 24 Grand Slam singles titles to his name, Djokovic has now become the most successful player in the history of Men’s tennis.
Eduardo Artaldi and his wife, Elena Cappellaro, have overseen Novak’s operations worldwide for 15 years now. The Italian is no longer the World No. 2’s manager. However, it’s unclear if the couple stays on the team in different roles or if they leave the Serb’s team 23 Major titles later. Djokovic had once revealed that his manager, Artaldi, was one-half of his “favorite couple in the world.”
Novak’s favorite duo include his wife, Jelena, and his longtime business manager and trusted friend, Artaldi. “We try to be as professional as possible but now our relationship is rather personal,” the Italian had once said in an interview with SBS Italian.
Novak Djokovic defends Gerard Pique, blames ITF for Davis Cup disaster

Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique‘s Kosmos signed a deal with International Tennis Federation(ITF) back in 2019 to organize the Davis Cup. The ITF announced a 25-year plan later in a $3 billion partnership with the investment group. Things didn’t go ahead as planned and the ITF announced the end of the deal earlier this year. According to sources, the parties failed to reach a new financial agreement.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic, defended the former footballer. “I do not support the criticism of Piqué because it is not his fault. The ITF is the one that allowed the change of format and the one that makes the final decision. He came with his company and bet on tennis. If you have to criticize someone, it is the ITF,” the 36-year-old told the media in a press conference.
