World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has stated his goals for the remaining season of 2023. One of his most desired goals is to stay on the pinnacle of the ATP rankings. That would mean the Serbian would have to stop young Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz, who is just behind him. “My greatest desire is to win the Davis Cup. I hope to end 2023 fit, healthy, as World No. 1, and winning at least one title,” the Serbian wished as per Eurosport.
Trying to stop Alcaraz from surpassing him might prove to not be so easy. Djokovic has been out of the game for the past month after he won his 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open. On the other hand, Alcaraz has attended all the ATP events being held in China. Although he did not perform exceptionally well, his win points are being added to his rankings.
Djokovic will have to focus on the remaining events of this season: The Paris Masters, The Davis Cup, and the ATP Finals. Speaking to Eurosport, the Serb stated that he is most excited about playing with his Serbian team at the Davis Cup. The Serbian team will play against Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
“They are a complete team. They have four top singles players, while one of them, Evans [Dan Evans], is extremely good in doubles as well,” said Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic welcomes ATP’s minimum wage
Co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), Djokovic, has always supported other players. He has always made an effort to express his views loudly by using. The 24-time Grand Slam winner recently praised the ATP for the progress it has achieved for players. He did, however, also express confidence that the PTPA would work to go above and beyond these efforts.

The ATP previously decided to increase the minimum wage for players who are ill or have problems. Djokovic, who credits the council’s initiatives for this development, has promised that his organization will increase its efforts to help more people in need.
“Here is the last one, where the ATP has increased the sums of money for players who are injured and are absent from the Tour. They took that step forward, which I welcome, of course. Is that step enough?,” said Djokovic in the interview with Sportal.
