Novak Djokovic leaves ex-coach Boris Becker ‘SPEECHLESS’ with his US Open victory as the German believes Nole doesn’t need to prove anything more

Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open. The 36-year-old became the oldest to win a Slam and also equaled Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 titles. While Djokovic felt overwhelmed to add another feather to his decorated cap, others including the Serbian’s ex-coach Boris Becker were left stunned.
Becker said that what Djokovic is doing is beyond believable. He also claimed that Djokovic does not need to prove anything to anyone as his performance speaks volumes. The German who himself holds the record for being the youngest Wimbledon champion and coached Djokovic for three years yielding in six Grand Slams, heaped massive praise on the 36-year-old.
“There is nothing that surprises me about Novak Djokovic anymore. But that at 36 he still has the motivation, that he has the desire, that he has the leisure and invests the time…I mean, he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone anymore,” said Becker to Eurosport Germany’s podcast ‘Das Gelbe vom Ball’.
Boris Becker seemed to be in awe of Djokovic’s hunger to win even at such old age. The German said that he presumed that records like most number of Grand Slam titles and the oldest player to win a Grand Slam will never be broken as age catches up at some point in time but Djokovic proved him wrong. “But there again, Novak Djokovic is pushing the limits. I think all of us who love tennis, who also respect him, are a bit speechless,” the German added.

Novak Djokovic is back to the grind!
Proving Boris Becker right in his claims about possessing an undying hunger to win titles, Novak Djokovic is back on the tennis court after a short breather. While the majority of the players who played till the last three rounds of the 2023 US Open are still recuperating, the Serbian is back representing his country in the Davis Cup. In fact, the 36-year-old propelled his team into the Final 8 with a win over Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Novak Djokovic beat his Spanish opponent in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4 and helped Serbian beat Spain 3-0. The Serbian said he was on “cloud nine” considering the things that have been happening to him lately on the tennis court. Notably, the 36-year-old beat Carlos Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Masters final in a marathon three-setter before winning his 24th Grand Slam title in New York. Now, Djokovic beat Fokina and helped his team secure a spot in the last 8.
“Obviously playing for Serbia, for my country, is something completely different. It’s a huge responsibility and pressure, but also an incredible privilege and honor. I’m really glad that I was able to contribute with a crucial point to qualify for Malaga with this win,” Novak Djokovic said after his win in Valencia.
