Novak Djokovic announces that he won’t be taking part in the 2023 Shanghai Masters
The last time the Shanghai Masters was held was in 2019, when Daniil Medvedev won the tournament. Since then, the tournament has been on hold due to the COVID-19 situation in China, but it is finally being resumed this year. However, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic recently announced that he will not be participating in the tournament and that will definitely be a major missing piece.

Novak Djokovic has won the Shanghai Masters four times, and he is the most successful player in the tournament’s history. Andy Murray, who won the tournament three times, is the second most successful player in it. The Serb announced his decision via a tweet where he also revealed that the Shanghai Masters is a very special tournament for him as well and that he was sad to take this decision. However, he had to do it to get some rest after the recent win in the US Open and he is often seen missing out on tournaments for the same reason.
