Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic was left heartbroken after he found out about his countryman and Basketball player Borisa Simanic reportedly losing a kidney in a horrific on-court incident. The 36-year-old then sent his strong wishes for Simanic who underwent two surgeries only to find out that his left kidney is not functional anymore.
Djokovic shared a picture of Borisa Simanic and of the on-court incident while adding a heart and folded hands emoji. It is worth mentioning that Borisa is still recovering from the injury. The Serbian basketball star had received a blow on his left kidney while playing against South Sudan.
Opposition player Nuni Omot tried to avoid a tackle from the Serbian and his elbow hit Simanic on the left side of his abdomen. The impact was so severe that Simanic had to be taken off the court and immediately rushed to the hospital in Manila. While the initial report suggested that his left kidney was fully functional, a second report revealed otherwise.
Subsequently, Simanic underwent another surgery and stands ruled out of the tournament. While the Serbian recovers, Djokovic sends his wishes to Borisa. Check out Djokovic’s post below.

Novak Djokovic sails into US Open 2023 semifinals

Speaking of Novak Djokovic’s campaign at the 2023 US Open, the 36-year-old Serbian has sailed into the semifinals as he defeated Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals. It was a comfortable win for the Serbian as he won the game 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. The 23-time Grand Slam winner will now face American teen sensation Ben Shelton in the semifinals.
If Novak Djokovic manages to avoid an upset, he is expected to face one of Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It can also be either Alexander Zvevrev or Andrey Rublev. While having any of them as an opponent will be an interesting affair, Djokovic and Alcaraz going against each other in the summit clash of the year’s last Grand Slam would be a befitting end.
The two players have already met once, at the 2023 Wimbledon final. Djokovic and Alcaraz also met each other in the Cincinnati Masters final. In two finals, the score remains level at 1-1. If they meet in the 2023 US Open final, they will have a chance to take the lead.
