Novak Djokovic continued his sublime form and moved into the Dubai Open quarter-finals after dispatching Tallon Griekspoor 6-2, 6-3. After reaching the last eight, the Serbian Star opened up about his feelings about PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association) and how the organization intends to help the lower ranked players around the world.

The World No.1 responded to a question raised on the PTPA founded by Vasek Pospisil and himself, “Look, we have a CEO. We have a full team now, We have a structure in place with marketing, PR, strategy, analytics. We have really people that cover every necessary aspect of one solid organization. I guess the CEO will elaborate more on the strategic points and direction and priorities.”

Djokovic continued on the objective of his PTPA, “But for me, the PTPA’s existence, most important purpose, is to serve players across the board. We struggled, unfortunately, last few decades with the division between ITF, ATP. So ATP only has a reach as much, then after that is ITF.”

PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association) was founded by Novak Djokovic and the Canadian Former World No.25 Vasek Pospisil. It was formally founded as a non-profit organization in Canada in 2021, though the idea of creating one of its kind started way back in 2019.

Djokovic and Pospisil served as co-presidents for the first two years. The association includes players (male and female) inside the top 500 singles and top 200 doubles rankings. The PTPA has a group of nine members that are elected annually and form the board of trustees.

PTPA aims to create transparency and fairness in professional tennis. It intends to give more support to lower-ranked players. This organization is considered to be a revolutionary movement in the history of tennis. But the initial build-up got hit when other top players like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer refused to join it.
