Mary and Novak
The former world No.4, Mary Joe Fernandez speaks highly of the Serbian, Novak Djokovic. The current world No.1 has been sensational in the recently concluded Australian Open and looks untouchable at the moment. Joe, who is the wife of Roger Federer‘s agent had recently talked in a podcast and expressed her opinion on Novak’s game and how good he is currently.
The 35-year-old had been in sublime touch despite his hamstring injury. He already won two titles this year including one Grand Slam title. It’s not just his wins, but the way he dominated in these tournaments fascinated many experts and fans. Novak is currently under recovery from his hamstring injury and he also requested special permission to enter the U.S.A to play in Indian Wells and Miami Open.
Speaking in the Holding Court with Patrick McEnroe podcast, she said “He is definitely the man to beat every time he steps on the court. He seems to find top speed when he needs it most. His serve is a good weapon now. And no one returns better than Novak Djokovic. He will be very difficult to beat this year if he stays in good health.”
Novak Djokovic is currently under threat of losing his world No.1 rank back to Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard is also in good form and won the Argentina Open after his return from the injury and is currently playing in the Rio Open. Novak is missing out on playing a few of these ATP tournaments due to his injury concerns. However, both these players are likely to play in Indian Wells provided Nole gets an entry.
