Founded by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil, The Professional Tennis Players Association, or the PTPA has been under serious highlight as it claims to bring forward a very significant right to equality for every tennis player in the world irrespective of their gender. Working to achieve a common goal which is to provide a voice for every single player, Novak Djokovic has been working tirelessly to provide a better world for the players.
Just a few months ago, he approached investor Bill Ackman to collaborate with his association and since then it has just been sky-high growth for Novak and his project. Novak recently posted a small video about now being the perfect time for players to join his organization. He stated, “The time is ripe, it has been ripe for quite some time, to be honest. But in terms of the organization in the structure of PTPA, I think the time is ripe more than it ever was. We have a great team of people, who are part of the PTPA, we have, we are growing in numbers with the team members.
He added, “We are trying to make sure we perfect our structure, our management to the best of our abilities so that we show to the players primarily but also to the whole tennis ecosystem that we are a credible organization that is not going anywhere. You know, we are there, we are going to evolve, we are going to develop, we are going to grow, and we are going to fight for the players’ right to be having a more significant seat on the table of the decision-making process for whatever area, whatever topic we are talking about in the tennis world, both men and women.”
How has Novak Djokovic’s PTPA held itself so far?
PTPA is an organization that was founded way back in 2019 that represents the top 500 male tennis players and top 200 female tennis players in the world. Novak and Pospisil worked alongside director Ahmad Nassar tirelessly for providing the tennis players with an approach that will help them with a considerable amount of say in the world of tennis.
It has since then been a true force for the upliftment of the welfare of players. PTPA works for concerns relating to the player’s welfare, and economic opportunities, and thereby also for preserving the structure of the sport. Director Nassar has also talked about the aim of the organization saying that the sport cannot just rely on a single entity and that is the reason that PTPA has been formed so that the voices of all the players can be heard.
