The Serbian World No.2 Novak Djokovic will end up winning his 8th Wimbledon title in a week according to most of the tennis pundits’ predictions. But, still, the heavy favorite for the grass Slam is becoming a bit more modest in his talks day by day despite breaking records on the court. The Serbian hero recently made the Serbian tennis player Natalija Stevanovic in tears due to his modest actions.
Natalija, in conversation with Serbian media after her recent loss, said, “The first meeting with Nole after the match – I cried like rain. I said: Where can you find me now, man? I just got out of the match and sat on my bike and he comes and says ‘Well done, and I’m already half in tears and I’m going: Oh, Nole (in a crying voice).” [H/T: kurir.rs]
Stevanovic continued, “He tells me ‘It’s good, it’s good’ and I say ‘Stop, man, you’re playing a match, these are tears of joy, don’t worry. Joyful in the sense that I was carried away by the crowd, a person plays for the stadium, even when you lose, you get a standing ovation. I sent kisses, it was really unreal.” [H/T: kurir.rs]

Natalija Stevanovic made her first main draw in a Slam at Wimbledon
The 28-year-old Serbian Natalija Stevanovic made it to the Wimbledon main draw for the first time in her career. It is not only her first main draw appearance in Wimbledon alone but the entire Grand Slam history. Her dream run after getting through the qualifying rounds was ended by Petra Kvitova in the third round by 3-6, 5-7.
She can go back to Serbia holding her head high because of the outstanding performances she was able to do in the grass court season coming with no expectations. Her main draw appearance will be a huge boost for Serbian women’s tennis in general which once produced top players like Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic.
It will be interesting to see how this run will help Natalija in future tournaments. Currently ranked at 225, she will be looking to climb the ranking ladders now with confidence. Her highest-ever ranking was 162. It was way back in November 2019.
