Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian recently won his 21st Grand Slam title after defeating Nick Kyrgios in the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon, he has been under a lot of criticism from the media and the pundits alike due to his Covid-19 vaccination status which has caused him to miss out on many tournaments.

The latest development is that Djokovic has been named among many on the entry list of the Cincinnati Open, despite the rules clearly stating that no unvaccinated players will be allowed entry into the US, Djokovic earlier was deported from Australia over his vaccination status and this seems to be the case for the US Open as well.

There are many big names on the entry list of the Cincinnati Open, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Jannik Sinner Carlos Alcaraz are some of the names on the men’s list with Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur and Serena Williams are some of the names on the women’s list. The tournament will run from August 13th to August 21st. Similar things happened when Djokovic was named on the entry list for the Miami Open and the BNP Paribas Open as the Serbian withdrew from the tournament knowing that he wouldn’t be allowed to travel.

Talking about his vaccination status after winning Wimbledon, Djokovic said, “I’m not vaccinated and I’m not planning to get vaccinated, so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter the United States or exemption, I’ll wait hopefully for some good news from the USA because I would really love to go there. If that doesn’t happen, then I have to see what the schedule will look like.

Unless an exemption is provided, Djokovic will be missing the Cincinnati Open and the US Open as well, the Serbian also refuses to change his stance regarding the vaccination despite missing many majors and the US Open could be next which starts from 29th August and will be the final Grand Slam of the season.
