Novak Djokovic narrates how coach Goran Ivanisevic talks of Stefan being a true copy of his father

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic has been associated with coach Goran Ivanisevic since 2019 and they share a great bond on and off the court. Goran has been pivotal in the Serbian’s success in the last few years as he has literally taken the major tournaments by storm thereby taking his Grand Slams count to 23. Novak Djokovic had an interview with a Serbian media outlet where he shared an interesting fact between him and his coach.
Goran has been observing Novak Djokovic and his family for quite some time now and as he coaches him, he also spends time with his son. Novak shared that Goran feels Stefan(Novak’s son) is an exact copy of him and plays some shots absolutely identically. Djokovic said, “Always jokes that lobs are in our blood, that Stefan inherited it from me – whenever someone is on the net, there is a lob coming 99 percent of the time.”
He also shared an incident saying when his son played a drop shot before finally lobbing him, Goran spotted that confirming again how similar they both are. Djokovic added, “For me, it’s a huge pleasure to be able to play tennis with my son. Just that feeling alone that my son loves and wants to play the sport I’ve dedicated my life to… It’s beautiful. When we’re together on the court, there is not a better feeling in the world.”
How much has Goran Ivanisevic impacted Novak Djokovic?
Goran Ivanisevic has always stood up for Novak Djokovic in times of good form and in times of hardships. It is no secret how much he has impacted Novak’s gameplay thereby turning him into an even more fierce competitor in the last few years.
A couple of days ago, at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships Novak was receiving a lot of boos and hatred around the stadium for no reason, and Goran stood up against it giving yet another indication of how massive a role he plays in Novak’s life.
He stood by him once again demanding the fans more respect, “Roger maybe played the most attractive tennis. People they feel like they can relate with Rafa and Roger because they came first. But he does get great support. He is one of the best athletes, and I’m not just talking about tennis, but one of the best athletes in the world.”
