Djokovic is expected to be back on tour for the Cincinnati Open. It will be his first tournament in the US after the heartbreaking loss in the final of the US Open 2021 to Daniil Medvedev. Last year and until the first half of 2023, the Serbian was not allowed to be entered in the US due to his non-vaccination status.

As 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has broken the dominance of the 36-year-old Novak Djokovic on the green turf of London, this match is widely considered a change of guard at the top of the men’s game. After the retirement of Roger Federer and the injury setback of Andy Murray, the tennis world was being ruled by Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal for the past few years.

After Federer’s last Grand Slam title in the 2018 Australian Open, the next of the 21 Grand Slam titles played, 11 were won by Djokovic and 6 by Nadal. The rest of the 4 titles were shared among Carlos Alcaraz (2), Daniil Medvedev, and Dominic Thiem.

With young guns showing up strong led by the Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, the coming months will be going to be a competition among different generations for the top spots and important titles of the sport.
