Novak Djokovic impersonating famous tennis stars is not new. But it is funny every time the Serbian does it. As the 36-year-old returned to a rousing reception after two years at the Flushing Meadows, Djokovic entertained the crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium as he came out for his practice match. The 23-time Grand Slam winner started with his favorite Maria Sharapova

Djokovic not only nailed the pre-serve routine of Sharapova but also her classic grunt after each serve. This had the crowd in splits as fans at the stadium laughed at every move Djokovic pulled off. Djokovic also impersonated John McEnroe and aced it by using McEnroe’s famous “You cannot be serious” quote.

The next in line were his current coach and 2003 Wimbledon winner Goran Ivanisevic, Andy Roddick, and 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios. Kyrgios was prompt to even laud the Serbian for pulling it off perfectly. “Hahahahahaha this is actually funny,” wrote the Australian on his Instagram story.

Novak Djokovic is all set to feature at the 2023 US Open after he missed out on the 2022 edition over his vaccination status. The three-time champion last featured at the 2021 US Open wherein he lost in the finals against Daniil Medvedev. Now, after playing in the finals of all three Grand Slams and winning two of them, Djokovic will want nothing less than a title here in New York.

Although he can’t complete his Calendar Slam, Djokovic stands a chance to take his Grand Slam tally to 24 and equal Margret Court’s all-time record. However, he will once again have the toughest challenge in the form of Carlos Alcaraz who has been equally consistent this year. Alcaraz pipped Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2023 final and will once again pose a huge threat.

Even though Djokovic clinched the Cincinnati Masters title by defeating the Spaniard in a marathon three-set match, Djokovic will have to bring out his A game in order to compete with the young blood at the Flushing Meadows.
