The Arthur Ashe Stadium was filled with fans of Novak Djokovic and American player, Taylor Fritz during their night session match at the US Open. The Serb was left distracted and lost an important point in the game to his American opponent. Furious at his loss, Djokovic lost his patience and yelled at the spectator.
The fan failed at the attempt to distract Djokovic from the game. The Serb won scoring 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, and eliminated Fritz from the tournament. In a press conference following his quarter-final win, Djokovic revealed how he got the fans to keep quiet after he lost his cool. “He was actually in the box where some of my friends were. I don’t know who the guy was, but I was pretty annoyed by him,” the World No. 2 said.
Explaining how he dealt with the spectator, Djokovic said, “I communicated with my friends to have a little chat with him”. The Serb added that usually, the players are supposed to not react to such cases. “People speak, they move around…you got to be ready for that, particularly in US Open,” he admitted.
