Novak Djokovic recently expressed his wish to partner up with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios for a doubles match and further sent out an open invitation to bring the Aussie back into action.

Kyrgios is well-known for his outlandish on-court style and has earned the reputation of a tennis ‘bad boy‘ owing to his antics and controversial opinions.

Kyrgios has been missing in action for the past year owing to multiple injuries the Aussie sustained during his time on the ATP Tour. Furthermore, the 28-year-old most recently withdrew from his home Slam and the season’s first Grand Slam, the Australian Open.

Subsequently, Novak Djokovic recently invited the 2022 Wimbledon Championships finalist to join him for a doubles quest ahead of the Serb’s Australian Open match while talking during the tournament’s official presser.

When commentator Nick Kyrgios asked the Serbian why he was so mean to the Aussies, Djokovic had a rather interesting reply, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. 

Who did I loose to in Grand Slams? You beat me but not in Slams. De Minaur beat me a few weeks ago. So I really needed this one. Lleyton exactly, I lost to Lleyton back in five or six year US Open. He chopped me as you love to say. The Aussies love to say, he chopped me... But yeah I don't know, I mean I am really not thinking about it. I have a good score in Grand Slam i guess overall so I will keep it going. 
Novak Djokovic replied

To which the host replied that Kyrigos needed to come back.

Meanwhile, the Australian tennis professional opted to resort to his first-ever commentator gig at the Australian Open and recently made headlines after withdrawing from two upcoming ATP Tour events, namely Indian Wells and the 2024 Miami Open.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios recently shared his thoughts about his friendship with 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and further highlighted how the duo’s bond has evolved while talking to a fellow commentator at the 2024 Australian Open.

We had a rocky relationship at the start and a couple of things changed and now we literally speak nearly everyday. We just talk about anything, we send memes to each other.

Kyrgios said.
