The Serbian World No.1 Novak Djokovic is reportedly planning to skip the Asian hard court swing for the first time since 2019. Despite that, he will be playing in the Davis Cup scheduled to be played in Spain this year. Skipping the Asian hard-court wing means that Djokovic is less likely to finish as the World No.1 player at the end of the year.

The current World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz is 800 points behind Djokovic now. With the option for him to play as much as 2,000 points extra toward the end of the season, the young Spaniard will be trying to grab the year-end World number-one ranking from the Serbian.

Many tennis fans on Twitter (now referred to as “X”) believed that the Serbian player has already achieved his primary goals, and his year-end world ranking may not be a top priority at this stage of his career. However, the Serbian still has a favorable opportunity to end the year as the world’s number-one player, particularly if Alcaraz doesn’t perform well in the upcoming tournaments.
