Novak Djokovic was very visibly excited upon defeating Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinal match of the ongoing 2023 US Open to reach his 47th Grand Slam semifinal. The Serb was seen singing “Fight For Your Right” by the Beastie Boys with the crowd after his win, which clearly showed the level of his excitement.
The song is very relevant to the crowd’s concern, as the Beastie Boys, after all, are a hiphop band from New York, where all the US Open matches are played. During his on-court interview, “You gotta fight. For your right. To PAAAARTY!” sang the light-hearted 23-time Grand Slam winner.
The World No. 2 totally dominated the American in the said quarterfinal match and won it 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, in straight sets. Fritz had not even lost a single set in the US Open 2023 in his previous rounds, and then he met Novak Djokovic. The Serb did not let him come close to winning a single set, which shows the level of preparation Nole currently has. He is the undoubted favorite in the 2023 US Open.
Djokovic will now be facing Ben Shelton. The 20-year-old home-boy has been great in the tournament so far. However, now he stands in front of the toughest game of his US Open campaign if not his career.

Djokovic was asked about how much trouble the heat of New York was causing in between the matches at the US Open, to which the Serb gave a great answer. He first jokingly said, “The haircut helped a lot! I am more aerodynamic on the court today.” He then went on to reveal that he was drenched during the entire match.
“Jokes aside, I am drenched in sweat. I saw Taylor change shirts a couple of times; it was very humid. It is difficult to play but that is why we train and try to get ourselves in the best conditions to deliver. It’s not easy but you have to fight; as the song says, you have to fight for your right to party,” Novak added.
