Newly crowned No. 1, Novak Djokovic made history at the US Open as he won a record 24th Grand Slam title by claiming the final major event of the calendar at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Serbian legend defeated the 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets (6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3) in just over 3 hours to clinch his 4th US Open title and 3rd Grand Slam of the year. Djokovic avenged his loss to Medvedev in the 2021 US Open final as he became the oldest man (36) to win this title in the Open Era.
The 36-year-old has also extended his lead over arch-rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the Grand Slam tally. The Serbian star is now two clear of Rafael Nadal’s tally of 22 men’s Slam singles titles, with Roger Federer two further back on 20. The trio is central to the tennis GOAT (Greatest of All Time) debate. In fact, this is the third time in Djokovic’s career that he has won 3 Grand Slam titles in a year, equalling Federer’s record.
Djokovic has had a couple of difficult years on the tour before 2023. The Serbian legend was barred from participation in the US Open and Australian Open because of the vaccine mandate in the countries. He also struggled with injuries and was shockingly disqualified from the 2020 US Open after he accidentally hit the line umpire with the ball. The Djokovic Foundation has released a limited-edition series of books showcasing the journey of the Serbian tennis star’s incredible career, capturing his unparalleled rise to the top of the ATP rankings and his record-breaking seventh-year-end world number-one title.

The books capture memories from Djokovic’s selected 7 years on the tour. The books also feature a personal touch from the man himself. Addressing his fans (often called as the NoleFam) in a letter, Djokovic thanked them for their support through thick and thin. “I want to first thank you for sticking up with me all these years, through my ups and downs. And what an exciting journey we have had behind us!” he wrote.

Novak Djokovic announces that the earnings from the book sales will fund the Novak Djokovic Foundation
In a beautiful gesture, Djokovic wrote in a letter announcing to his fans that the proceeds from his year-end books collection will go to the Novak Djokovic Foundation. “It makes me extremely proud and grateful to see how much effort, love, and passion you’ve put into making it, but even more so, to see that the proceeds from the sale of these books will support and fund the work of the Novak Djokovic Foundation. For the past 15 years, together with my wife, we’ve been investing in early childhood development, opened 55 preschools, and reached over 55,000 children in Serbia. Of course, there is still so much work to be done but I want to thank you for joining me on this journey too and for making these numbers count,” he wrote.
“These books sum it up: all seven years of passion, excitement, love, adventures and just a little bit of stress. I haven’t yet slowed down with my ambition to push the boundaries of this sport, so I haven’t yet had a chance to process all that has happened_ but you, you did it for me! Together with my team, you’ve created this set of books that are a beautiful collection of memories we had through those intense 7 years of me ending as the best tennis player in the world,” Djokovic said, talking about the books.
The world no.1 recently helped Serbia reach the last 8 of the Davis Cup to be played in Malaga in November. The 36-year-old continued his winning ways with a 6-3, 6-4 Davis Cup win against Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Friday. Djokovic’s victory clinched the tie for Serbia.
