Novak Djokovic recently shared a picture on Instagram with soccer player Lionel Messi. Djokovic greatly admires and respects Messi. Yesterday both of the sports superstars were seen alongside Jorge Mas, owner of the Inter Miami soccer club which Messi has joined this year as a player.
Djokovic met Messi in the Casa Cipriani New York restaurant. He posted a picture with him with the caption, “Crack! Great pleasure to see you and talk to you. As always, I wish good luck and health to you and your family.”
The Serb recently won his 39th ATP Masters 1000 championship, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Cincinnati Open. Fans were overjoyed with his championship and are hopeful for more in the future.
Djokovic is in terrific form right now, and he is very likely to win the US Open if he can recover well. His last finals with the 20-year-old Spaniard had his fans on their knees, as he seemed to be quite exhausted and to be taking a lot of breaks in between. The finals lasted 4 hours, making it the longest finals of the tournament ever.
Road to US Open finals for Novak Djokovic
23-times Grand Slam champion Djokovic was unable to enter the United States last year, but now that he is back, many fans are outraged that he has been given an easy draw. Djokovic will face Alexandre Muller, a 26-year-old Frenchman making his main-draw debut, in the first round. Djokovic might face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the next round and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals on his way to winning his 24th Grand Slam championship.
It will be interesting to see if any player can stun Djokovic, who has never lost in the first round of the US Open. Following the release of the draw, it is projected that Alcaraz and Djokovic would meet again in the finals, making this year’s US Open more interesting to watch.
