With the tennis media still talking about the glorious return of the sport’s one of the greatest players of the generation, World No. 5 Andrey Rublev was the latest one to comment about the rivalry the tennis industry is expected to encounter in the upcoming days.
There are many rumors about 2024 being the final year in the golden career of Rafael Nadal, but only time will tell if his rivalry with Novak Djokovic will be shortlived or not.
In an interview with the media outlet The National, Rublev talked about how much the two legends have contributed to the sport, and after all these years, when they still have nothing left to prove, they are still seeking perfection.
I’m not surprised because I think he and Novak, those kind of players who are playing to leave a mark in the history of tennis; while Novak is still playing I think Rafa will try until the end to play and try to win slams. And the same goes for Novak.Rublev said as quoted by The National
He further added that both Nadal and Djokovic are playing to leave a mark in the sport and will continue to play till their bodies don’t give up on their conscience.
If Rafael Nadal keeps playing and winning when he comes back, Novak Djokovic will keep playing until the end. They are playing for different things.He further added

They have faced each other on 59 occasions, with Djokovic winning 30 times and Nadal just one short with 29 wins. They have faced Nadal 27 times on hard courts, where the Serbian is leading the head-to-head records by 20-7, and in clay, Nadal is leading by 20-8.
Whereas, on the grass, both have won two games each of the four times they have played each other. Their first meeting and their last meeting coincidentally took place in the quarterfinals of the Roland Garros. The Spaniard won on both occasions, each time ending the competition as the champion.
