Novak Djokovic will lift the 8th Wimbledon title against Carlos Alcaraz believes South African cricket superstar AB de Villiers
Carlos Alcaraz, even though the No. 1 seed in this year's Wimbledon, is seen as the underdog going into the final against the Serbian tennis giant.

Cricketing legend AB de Villiers spoke at length about Novak Djokovic’s dominance on the tennis tour and his exploits at Wimbledon, on his Youtube channel. The South African believes that Djokovic is the clear favorite to win an 8th title here at Wimbledon.
‘Mr. 360’ said, “I love Novak Djokovic. It’s in the final week of Wimbledon for him, and could he maybe get another major? You know he’s right on top of the list when it comes to major titles in the men’s department, and he’s lining up for another one. It will not be easy for him with guys like Medvedev and Alcaraz and a few others that are really raring to go but i think it is the Djoker who has got what it takes to go all the way.”
De Villiers also spoke about Djokovic’s hardships early in his career and his career turn–around with his diet change in 2011. “He’s had some diet issues in the past, but he met up with doctors to change his diet and ultimately became more fit and physically stronger on court. He also had some issues related to Asthma. Couldn’t finish games. But ultimately the greats of the game find a way to get an extra percent,” he said.
Just like the South African cricket legend, many tennis enthusiasts around the globe are putting their money on Djokovic. Carlos Alcaraz, even though the No. 1 seed in this year’s Wimbledon, is seen as the underdog going into the final against the Serbian tennis giant.
Djokovic’s experience eclipses Alcaraz’s, making him the favorite to win
There is now only one match between Novak and his 5th consecutive title here at Wimbledon. And that man is World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. The two have met twice in the past, with Alcaraz getting the better of him on the red clay of Madrid in 2022 on his way to the title. Djokovic then returned the favor on an even bigger stage at the French Open 2023 semifinals. Injuries played spoilsport in the match as Alcaraz admitted to facing cramps, which hindered his movement during the match.
This match-up on the biggest stage possible – a Wimbledon final, is different. It pits the two players on a surface where Djokovic is even more dominant, while Alcaraz’s dominance on the surface is still questionable. Technically undefeated this grass court season, which has seen him lift a maiden title on grass at the Queen’s Championships, there is no denying that Alcaraz does not match the experience of the Serbian legend.
Which player will hand the other their first defeat this grass court season, on the biggest stage possible?
