Novak Djokovic claimed his 24th Major title last Sunday at the Flushing Meadows. He defeated World No. 3 and 2021 US Open champ, Daniil Medvedev in a thrilling encounter. With his 4th US Open title, Djokovic broke several records and set many new ones. Toni Nadal, who is the former coach of tennis professional, Rafael Nadal recently revealed that the Serb’s win would hit Nadal hard.

The 36-year-old reached his 47th Grand Slam semi-finals at the US Open recently, breaking Rafael Nadal’s previously held record of 46 semi-finals at the Majors. With his latest win, Djokovic also became the oldest man ever to win a US Open title. This record was previously held by Ken Rosewell, who won the championship at 35 years of age.

In a column of the Spanish Daily, ‘El Pais’, Toni Nadal, who is the uncle and former coach of legendary tennis player, Rafael Nadal revealed why the Former World No.1 is feeling blue.“With this victory Novak takes a giant step forward in this hypothetical fight with Rafael to become the most successful tennis player in history,” he said.

And, obviously, this makes things very difficult, not only for my nephew but also for any player who, in the present or in the future, would like to imitate him,” the uncle of the 22 times Grand Slam winner added further.

The native fans of Novak Djokovic welcomed the 2023 US Open Champion back with great grandeur along with the Men’s National Basketball team of Serbia. Around 50,000 fans gathered in the Serbian city of Belgrade and welcomed the sportsmen back with loud cheers as they waved the Serbian flag.

The 36-year-old was unable to hold back tears as members of the basketball team came ahead to console the tennis star. With his latest win, Novak added a 24th Major singles title to his tally. He is currently representing Serbia at the Davis Cup.
