Novak Djokovic’s ’22’ jacket to commemorate historic Australian Open win makes a return
Novak Djokovic brings back the iconic '22' jacket he donned in Melbourne at the Monte Carlo Masters after the opening match win.
Novak Djokovic is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. The Serb has innumerable achievements under his belt. Most recently, he surpassed Steffi Graf to claim the most number of weeks spent at No.1 in the world rankings. Currently, he is tied with Rafael Nadal for the most number of Grand Slam title wins.
In his opening round at the Monte Carlo Masters, Djokovic showed off his special ’22’ jacket after his first match of the clay season. The Serb was first spotted donning the jacket after winning his 22nd Major title at the 2023 Australian Open. The jacket made quite a splash when Djokovic wore it during the trophy ceremony.
After defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the championship match in straight sets, Novak Djokovic donned a white warm-up jacket from apparel sponsor Lacoste. Djokovic’s 10th Australian Open win was historic for the Serb in numerous ways. The new outfit was designed to honor the Serbian’s triumph and included a huge “22” imprinted on his chest.
After his ban from the US, which did not allow him to participate in the Sunshine Doubles, Djokovic made a comeback in Monaco. The 35-year-old took a short break and returned in action against a qualifier, Ivan Gakhov. Furthermore, the tennis professional player was not easy on the Serb in any way. Despite facing difficulties, Djokovic ultimately triumphed with a straight-set win.
In the post-match interview, Djokovic was seen in his jacket yet again. The emblazoned 22 seemed apt as the Serb is hoping to surpass Nadal in the race to most major titles at the upcoming French Open. With the Spaniard’s hip injury, prospects of winning the title in Paris seem much higher for Djokovic.

Ivan Gakhov wishes to face Novak Djokovic once again
Qualifier Ivan Gakhov was all smiles despite losing the third-round match at Monte Carlo. Djokovic shut down the aspirant’s prospects with a straight-set win against the Russian. However, Gakhov did not go down without giving Djokovic a run for his money. The match witnessed a thrilling tie-break in the first set.
During the post-match handshake at the net, Gakhov did not seem much upset with his loss. The duo had an amicable interaction when Gakhov expressed his desire to compete against the Serb yet again. “You are the best, I hope to play more matches with you,” said Gakhov.
