The Novak Djokovic-led Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) recently took a dig at the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) after British tennis professional Tara Moose lost 19 months on the circuit due to false doping allegations.

The Briton was suspended from the tour by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after she tested positive for a prohibited substance during her 2022 WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas campaign. However, after bearing through months of court procedures, the ITIA acquitted Moore of all pending offenses on Saturday (December 23).

In light of her recent acquittal, the PTPA voiced their concern against the WTA’s unfair system for players and lamented about how Tara Moore’s career took a steep dive after an elongated suspension period of 19 months sabotaged her name and reputation. Their statement read:

It is worth noting that the Brit’s doping ban was lifted after an independent tribunal established that a prohibited substance was present in the contaminated meat she consumed merely days before her sample collection.

Novak Djokovic co-founded PTPA with Canadian tennis professional Vasek Pospisil in 2019. Their independent organization aims to represent players’ best interests and fill in the gaps inherently overlooked by the ATP and WTA for several years.

Tara Moore achieved a career-high rank of 77 in doubles before her suspension

British tennis professional Tara Moore enjoyed her career-best doubles ranking before she was slapped with a suspension from the tour. The 31-year-old was ranked at the 77th spot in June 2022, making her the top-ranked British female doubles player at the time.

Moore’s career-best result in Grand Slams was witnessed at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship where she secured a third-round spot with countryman Arthur Fery in the mixed doubles category.

The Briton also reached the doubles final of the 2016 Rio Open with partner Conny Perrin. However, the pair was unable to bag the title after opponents Veronica Cepede Royg and Maria Irigoyen ousted them in the event’s summit clash.
