Novak Djokovic’s Coach Goran Ivanisevic agrees to give tennis lessons to Mike Tyson’s daughter

Former World No. 2 and champion at the 2001 Wimbledon, Goran Ivanisevic remains active on the tennis tour despite his retirement back in 2004 as the Croatian great is currently the head coach of 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. Goran had earlier coached Marin Cilic and guided him to the 2014 US Open title, the only major Cilic has won so far.

The Croatians split in 2016 and after short spells with Tomas Berdych and Milos Raonic, Goran was brought on by Djokovic in his coaching camp in 2019 and the two have won 6 Grand Slam titles together of which only the US Open remains where Novak and Goran have not been able to capture the men’s singles trophy although they came very close as Djokovic finished runner-up in the 2021 US Open.

Ahead of the 2022 US Open, Djokovic awaits confirmation whether he will be allowed or not to play as he remains unvaccinated against Covid-19 and the US government isn’t allowing non-vaccinated foreigners to enter the country. Ivanisevic, on the other hand recently gave a small interview as he exited an eatery. In the video available on TMZ, Ivanisevic was shown Mike Tyson‘s 7-year-old daughter Milan’s tennis game and asked if he would coach her and give her some advice.

“She looks good man. (Advice for her) Practice every day. 7 years old, 1 and a half hours a day should do it,” said Goran. On asked if he would take her under his wing, the Croatian replied, “I don’t live here, I live in Croatia. She comes to Croatia, I will play with her whenever she wants.

Goran was next asked if she would require her father’s immense power, Ivanisevic smilingly said, “For tennis no. Genetics always helps but you see, that doesn’t give you anything or prove anything but it’s okay to have her.” One final question asked to Goran was that Milan idolises Serena Williams, is she a good idol, to which the coach replied, “If she can be 10% of Serena, that will be great.”
