The US Open main draw ceremony for singles was held yesterday in New York on August 24. The ceremony saw Novak Djokovic get placed in the bottom half of the draw. Many of the tennis fans claimed that Novak has always been lucky to get placed in easier draws at Grand Slam events.

The US Open is set to begin on August 28 this year at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It will be the last Slam of this year and has managed to garner much interest. Several people pointed out how the Serbian great got placed in a part of the draw that would enable him to advance in the games with little difficulty.

Many users on the social media app, X (formerly Twitter) were quick to point out that Novak seemed to have the easier way in the Grand Slam. The top half of the draw which is headlined by Carlos Alcaraz, also has the 2012 champion Andy Murray. Other champs on the top half of the draw list feature winners like Stan Wawrinka and Daniil Medvedev, who’ve won before in the years 2016 and 2021respectively. The first half also features Kei Nishikori, the runner-up in 2014 and 2020 runner-up Alexander Zverev, as well.

Social media reacts to Novak Djokovic’s easy draw for the US Open

The second half of the draw, which features Djokovic, also has some of the fan favorites on the list. They are American players Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, who is one of the top picks of tennis legend, Chris Evert.

Djokovic is projected to win to first few rounds easily. He might take on Holger Rune or Casper Ruud in the semifinals. Although Stefanos Tsitsipas has never made it past the third round in New York, the Greek player has made it to the Finals of the prestigious Slam twice. Next week in the first round, the World No. 2 will take on Alexandre Muller, who holds the 76th rank on the ATP Rankings.

Some fans claimed that Djokovic was just very fortunate when it came to Slam draws, while some compared him with other players. Here are some of the reactions.

Many users believed the Slams to be rigged. Some questioned the credibility of such statements as the Serb’s greatness was being doubted. Others claimed that all players that could beat him were in the first half of the draw. A user jokingly stated that they “bet he’ll win in straight sets against all of them.”
