English tennis player Liam Broady had a great Wimbledon journey this year as he defeated fourth-seeded Casper Ruud in the second round, shocking the entire tennis world. However, unfortunately, his happiness didn’t last long as he was shown the door by none other than Canadian tennis professional Denis Shapovalov in the third round.

Following his impeccable performance on the grass court, the up-and-coming tennis player had a small interview with media outlet talkSPORT Breakfast, where he gave his view on Novak Djokovic and how much he adores his gameplay.

It’s no secret that Djokovic is not favored by the majority of fans like his long-time rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, and there is no particular reason for that. Brody spoke about this issue in favor of the Serbian saying that Novak’s dominance in tennis is not appreciated enough and people will realize his contribution only when he bids goodbye to the sport.

He said, “You can’t ignore Djokovic and it’s kind of fate at this stage. People have been fighting for a long time against him being the GOAT of the sport.”

He also added, “It’s going to happen and what you fear the most, you make happen… and that’s what Novak is going to do. When you talk to him, he is a very nice man and very down to earth. I feel like with a lot of things, people don’t realize what they have until it’s gone. Once Novak leaves the sport, I think people will really realize what he’s done. He sublimates numbers like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but in tennis. I don’t think anyone can come close to what they’re doing.”

Novak Djokovic never quite received the applause and appreciation for his titles during the last few years when Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were around, with both being the absolute fan favorites. But things have taken a different turn in the debate for the best male tennis player ever since Federer retired, and now that Nadal is close to the end of his career, it looks likely that Djokovic will end his reign as the best male tennis player to have ever existed.

Djokovic has been setting the bar higher as he has aged, giving his competition a task too big to achieve. Taking his Grand Slam tally to 23 with the title at Roland Garros last month, he is on a hunt to finish this year with a Calendar Grand Slam, and very few at this level work as hard as him even at this age.
