“The greatest of all time” Novak Djokovic’s practice session with Dane Sweeny seems ‘surreal’ to the young Aussie ATP player
Dane Sweeny opened up about his practice session with Novak Djokovic ahead of his Australian Open debut.

Novak Djokovic, known to be one of the most compassionate players on the Tour, is found again displaying his sense of sportsmanship and mentorship. The World No. 1 hailed as the ‘GOAT’ recently had a practice session with a young ATP player.
Dane Sweeny, the young Aussie, recently opened up about sharing the court with the extremely talented Djokovic. Ahead of his Australian Open debut, the youngster had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to practice with the “legend” Djokovic.
He also revealed that the Serbian made him feel really comfortable by joking around and praising the youngster.
Additionally, the Aussie revealed that he was initially intimidated because of his aura but soon felt comfortable and enjoyed the practice session ahead of his debut.

This was not the first time for the 36-year-old, who had helped numerous people before this. Djokovic did not limit himself to one sport and has given valuable advice to a few athletes from different sports.
Recently, he became a mentor for his teammate, Hamad Medjedovic, who was also grateful for Djokovic’s support.
Dane Sweeny loses his first match at the Australian Open despite incredible run at the qualifiers
Young Dane Sweeny recently debuted at the Australian Open after having won all his qualifying matches. Three matches later, the Aussie finds himself a first-round opponent at the prestigious slam.
He was up against a highly-ranked Francisco Cerundolo. Despite the rank difference, Sweeny put up a good fight, taking the match into the fifth set before suffering a loss.
He lost to the Argentinian 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2, 2-6 in a thriller of a debut. The youngster reached a personal milestone and also practiced with the Serbian great Novak Djokovic to make his year.
Djokovic needed a hitting partner, and Sweeny agreed immediately when asked to practice with the Serbian. He revealed that it was a surreal experience to have one of the best in the business on the other side of the court.
The World No. 1 won a tough first-round victory to find himself a step closer to defending the title. With a mind set to win a golden slam, Djokovic continues his amazing record in Australia, hopeful to start the year with a win.
