Novak Djokovic, the Serbian star, has achieved great milestones in the world of tennis through his amazing tennis. He is the only male to reach 24 Grand Slam titles, surpassing other legends like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. With the 2024 Australian Open not very far away, Mark Philippoussis makes a few bold statements about Novak.
In a recent interview with Neos Kosmos, the Australian coach and former tennis player said a few strong words about Novak. He picked World No. 1 as the favorite for the 2024 Australian Open and praised the Serb for reaching a different level in tennis that even Federer and Nadal could not reach.
As incredibly professional as you’ve seen Rafa (Nadal) be or (Roger) Federer, where they’re competing and making sure that they’re going into grand slams mentally and physically the fittest, Djokovic (has) taken that to a level and it’s just amazing.Mark said in an interview with Neos
Even at the age of 36, Novak continues to rule tennis by performing back-to-back, and even with Nadal possibly returning for the Australian Open, Nole remains a favorite to win the tournament. He further added:
He’s without a doubt the favorite going into the Australian Open and I don’t see him slowing down soon.
Mark Philippousis credits Novak for an amazing year of tennis
That’s not all. Mark further praised Novak for such an incredible year. For context, Novak Djokovic has entered the finals of all four Grand Slam titles and won three out of those four. However, he lost to Carlos by a close margin but still holds a phenomenal record that many dream of having. He said:
He was incredible to watch at the US Open. If he’s got a practice court at one o’clock, he’s in the gym by 11 o’clock. He’s walking onto the practice court already sweating. He finishes his training, he's into his drinks and his eating and everything is exactly in place where it needs to be. I haven't seen a professional like that.
Continuing his train of thought, he further continued by saying that Djokovic is undoubtedly the favorite to win the 2024 Australian Open and that the way the Serbian handles professionalism is phenomenal. He added:
There's been a lot of amazing professionals but I've never seen the degree that Djokovic does it. He's without a doubt the favourite going into the Australian Open, and I don't see him slowing down soon.
With the year almost coming to an end, only a handful of tournaments remain, and Novak Djokovic will be seen playing the Paris Masters and then probably joining his Serbian team to win the Davis Cup. Novak, who had earlier gotten back to his position as No. 1, said that he would focus on his team and help Serbia qualify for the Davis Cup.
