There is just one match left in the ongoing Cincinnati Masters for both the ATP and WTA Tours. Most players have left Mason, Ohio, to prepare for the upcoming US Open. Just as the attention of tennis fans is shifting to the courts in New York.
The Cincinnati Masters social media team has come up with a video edit that makes sure that the interest of the fans stays in the Cincinnati mood for a few more days. It features current finalist Novak Djokovic and one of his biggest rivals, Andy Murray.
The first video shows Djokovic hitting the ball off the frame of his racquet. This instance is taken from his most recent semi-final win over Alexander Zverev. After winning a tough match that was interrupted by firecrackers, Djokovic simply expressed relief by hitting the ball into the stands. However, in the video, the ball lands on Andy Murray as he is sitting during a changeover in some match and leaves him angry.
This clip was taken from the 2015 Paris Masters, where Murray got hit by one of the ball kids. All in all, the video showed Djokovic hitting the ball, which eventually hit Murray. The edit was captioned ‘Not Again, Andy.‘ It seemed as if it was done to mock Murray for his negative head-to-head against the Serb. However, this did make the fans intrigued, and they laughed a lot.
Djokovic sets up spicy final against Alcaraz
After not meeting even once in two years, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are playing each other for the third time in the three tournaments they have both taken part in recently. The pair first met in Madrid last year.
After more than a year’s gap, they met at Roland Garros in an encounter the Serb won easily. After that, they met in the Wimbledon final. To many people’s surprise, Alcaraz beat Djokovic in five tough sets and won the Wimbledon title. Novak Djokovic hadn’t lost a match on Centre Court in 10 years, and it was Alcaraz who finally did it.
It did affect the Serb, as he then pulled out of the Toronto Masters, citing fatigue. However, he came back to the Cincinnati courts and now has a great opportunity to take some solid revenge. Alcaraz has not comfortably made it to the final, losing a few sets and bailing himself out almost every time. On the other hand, Djokovic has been lethal and would like to show Alcaraz that exact performance. Can the Serb win his third Cincinnati Masters crown, or will Alcaraz win his first?
