Andy Murray the 2012 US Open champion, during his third-round clash against Berrettini at the US Open, looked out of form at times, and with his age and injuries not in his favor and was struggling to play his best level of tennis. During an interview, the Brit realized that he has become a bit slower on the court with his gameplay due to his hip injury. He said “This can impact how you should play points. Maybe you’re not tracking as many balls as you used to. Maybe the range is not as big as before. But as far as punches and all that, there’s nothing stopping me from hitting the same punches as before.“
He even revealed that his counterparts Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic‘s fitness levels are phenomenal at the moment and they have been consistent enough in the last few years while he has failed to maintain his movement on the court. He added “A lot of things are the same, but obviously, I’m not able to move and be as physical as I was five or six years ago. I mean, it’s pretty obvious. You know, I shouldn’t expect to be. I think if you watch Nadal and Djokovic, who is the same age, move around the court today, I think they move the same way they did five or six years ago, whereas for me , there has obviously been a small drop.“
